Since Happily Ever After Romance is a relatively new blog I decided to join up with some 2021 Reading Challenges with this blog in mind.
I frankly suck at remembering to go and link up reviews at the Challenge(s) websites – I really have to work on that… but, once again, I’m determined to do better. 🙂
This blog is all about my love of love stories, usually from the various lines at Harlequin or Tule Publishing Houses (although those aren’t my only romance addiction sites). I buy books every single, freakin’ month… but I don’t always manage to read them right away. That is why this blog exists, frankly, and why these particular Reading Challenges would work for HEA Romance. Let’s see what I can find this year:
2021 New Release Challenge (Un)Conventional Bookworms
I’ve entered Linda & Brandee’s New Release Challenge before with my older, more established blog (Keeper Bookshelf). My goal with this blog is to embrace pure Romance stories, the kind I grew up on (maybe a bit steamier now :)) and the ones that I still love to this day. Harlequin books have had my back for years, so I know that I’ll always have those “new releases” each and every month.
Since my 2021 Goodreads Reading Challenge is for 100 books on this blog, I’m also going for that level in this challenge. I think I can do this between Harlequin, Tule Publishing, and the other new “must-have” releases coming in 2021. As always, remembering to link up the reviews is my downfall. So this year I’m making Goodreads shelves for Challenges and once I’ve that set up I’ll put the link here… at least going back and linking up at (Un)Conventional Bookworms will be a bit easier when I forget (which I will). *wink*
So, I’ve already admitted that I suck at remembering to go and update my additions to the Reading Challenges. The only way that I believe I’ll remember is to go back to my standby… lists. That’s what you’ll find here, the books that qualify for the 2021 New Release Challenge. In one place, I can check this page weekly and go do what I need to be doing. 🙂 (pssst, I did it, just hope I did it right for the first 5 books)
Ah well, I knew that this year had gotten away from me – and it has – along with other “issues” along the way. So. Even though this list here are the new releases I read in 2021 they won’t show on this New Release Challenge because I got around to listing them at the Challenge too late. Those titles with an * did not get listed by me before the Linky expired. Totally, completely my fault, and I’m not surprised for it’s this step that messes me up every single year. All I can do now is say.. oh, well, try better for the 2022 New Release Challenge. *shrugs with regrets* (Oh, and I did read several titles that were older ones so while I’d hope they’d match up somewhat… my GoodReads 2021 Challenge will not match up with these numbers either)
Right now I have 36 titles read officially (that were listed on the Linky) for the 2021 New Release Challenge. Frankly, I’m pleased that I managed to get that many listed officially!

Beat the Backlist 2021 – Novel Knight
I always am going back to older romance series (no matter who the publishing house is) and I especially do this when there is a new release in an older series that I hadn’t started in the first place! Oh, my poor TBR when that happens, right?
Looking around for 2021 Reading Challenges that fit this blog, my reading style, and all the different criteria for the Challenges isn’t always easy but I think this one will fit here perfectly. I have so many series on my Kindle that I desperately want to get caught up with and this would be a fun way to keep track of my progress.
If this sounds interesting to you, click on the graphic or the link above to go to the Beat the Backlist 2021 Reading Challenge announcement page and check it out. 🙂
I’m joining a bit late in the year (today is 4/18/2021)… and it’s tempting to list the books I’ve read so far this year but I don’t think that’s really fair so going forward I’ll list the books that met this challenge.
And, of course, Goodreads 2021 Challenge — and that can be seen over in the sidebar!
I think that’s enough for Happily Ever After Romance. My biggest challenge is recording or linking reviews/reads of the books I choose for these Challenges. That’s always my downfall. Perhaps this year will be better – after all… 2020. ‘nough said, am I right?
