Title:  A Colorado Claim
Series:  Return to Catamount #3

My Rating:  4.5 stars

A Colorado Claim concludes the Return to Catamount series with a second chance at getting love right for Gibson and Lark (who we’ve run into or heard about in the earlier stories).  This is a story where your heart is going to break a bit for these two.  Both were right in so many ways, but both were equally wrong as well – and how they handled those differences lead to a divorce that neither really wanted but Lark felt there was no other choice possible.

Throughout this series, we’ve heard Lark in long-distance conversations with her sisters on many occasions.  She will only reluctantly return home when her father tries to break their grandmother’s will – the will that had the sisters inheriting the family ranch, not their entitled, nasty piece of work father.  She has more than one reason for not really wanting to return to Catamount for her former husband, the man she still loves lives at the ranch right beside her grandmother’s property.  A decision they made back when they were happily married and anything seemed possible.

Now Gibson has retired from hockey, a decision that not everyone really believes will last but he is making plans for the ranch and moving on from a profession he gave so much to, far, far too much as it cost him the woman he’d always love.  Now Lark is back in town, and he has information that just might help the sisters win the lawsuit over their inheritance.  An added bonus is seeing Lark again, and perhaps winning her love back isn’t a farfetched idea – but there are things that Gibson doesn’t know and those things are what holds Lark back from admitting she was wrong in the way she ended their marriage by just running away with no explanation.

For me, A Colorado Claim was the best of this series.  The emotions reached out from the pages and kept me flipping pages without much of a break.  I will always fall for a romance that reads realistically and completely possible within my mind, and Lark and Gibson were very real people facing very real situations that changed their lives once… and may do the same once again.  We’ll run into familiar faces, watch a special wedding take place, and cheer on a couple that was always so right for each other but they had to lose everything before they could acknowledge their failings and face a future with realistic eyes.

I enjoyed this entire series so much, and cannot wait to see what this author brings us next.  If you love an emotional romance, a second chance at love with a couple that really will break your heart and then heal it (and themselves) back up again… then A Colorado Claim is perfect for you.
