Stacking the Shelves #2 (5-14-22)

Posted May 14, 2022 by Marsha in Stacking the Shelves / 0 Comments

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!

In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you – no matter how you got it – it belongs in Stacking the Shelves. Reading Reality became the one and only host of Stacking the Shelves when Team Tynga’s Reviews closed its virtual doors in 2021. *from the Stacking the Shelves launch/information page at READING REALITY.  And… STACKING THE SHELVES can always be found by clicking on this link to HOME at Reading Reality or the graphic over there <—.*

I really need to get better at weekly book haul/book blogging-related events… but the fact is that time just gets away from me.  And my TBR is out of control.  Actually, I don’t think I’ll ever get that under control – and maybe you too?  🙂

I’ve only added one ARC to my stacks recently, mainly because I’m trying so hard to keep my hauls to the monthly Harlequin releases, and some NetGalley ones as well.  But, I recently joined Booksprout and was lucky to find this one… The Secret Heir Returns by Joss Wood that concludes the Dynasties: DNA Dilemma series.  That review will go live next week.  So, this week is very light. (the novel graphic below links to Goodreads)

Hopefully, you’ve found some great reads to add to your stacks.  And I’ll be back next week (it’s on my calendar now) with any additions to my own.  Happy Reading, folks!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #2

Posted January 10, 2022 by Marsha in Discussion, It's Monday! What Are You Reading? / 4 Comments

I love fun memes, I really need to join in on more of them because… fun.  We should all have more fun in our lives, especially those of us who usually have a book in hand and a ton in line waiting to be read! 🙂

So let’s kick this off with “It’s Monday! What are you reading?”.  From the official page, “It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile!” Now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

I gave myself permission to take a bit of a book break over the holidays.  Didn’t read as much, and surprisingly, a lot of what I did read I also gave myself permission to DNF simply because I didn’t care one whit what happened to those characters.  That’s a 2022 goal of mine – to stop reading a book I’m not enjoying simply because I “spent good money” on it.  So. What. ?  I’m really getting behind the realization that we have a limited amount of time on this blue marble in space… why continue to read a book that I’m hating just because I spent “good money on it”?  No, no more.

One book I did devour was The Girl in the Mist by Kristen Ashley.  This was her first novel in the Thriller genre and did she ever nail it!  I’ll admit to having read all of her books and loved (to some degree) every single one… but this one went to another level of suspense, mystery, terror, and romance with an older couple who proved that age is no limit for love or sexiness!  I would highly recommend it for anyone who loves a good mystery, a seasoned romance, and isn’t put off by uncomfortable subjects (or at least knows how to skim past parts of a story to enjoy the other parts).

Can’t Wait Wednesday #1

Posted November 24, 2021 by Marsha in Can't Wait Wednesday, Discussion, Weekly Events / 2 Comments

As a life-long avid reader, there is not much that can get my anticipation rising quicker than knowing a favorite author has a new book releasing soon.  Admittedly, here at Happily Ever After Romance, I focus on Romance, in particular Harlequin (or Harlequin-styled) Romance stories.  So when I went searching for weekly events or memes within the Romance Reading Community I knew that I’d be adding Can’t Wait Wednesday to that list. 🙂  Here’s the basic information about this fun weekly meme celebrating those anticipated releases we all look forward to:

“Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted here, at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Just click on the “Read More” button below to see what book I’m looking forward to release day for this week!  Oh, and happy reading to you no matter what genre you love we all love getting lost in a good book. 🙂

Teaser Tuesday #1

Posted November 23, 2021 by Marsha in Teaser Tuesday, Weekly Events / 0 Comments

I’ve decided to take part in the Teaser Tuesday weekly meme over at The Purple Booker – I love getting involved with the Romance Community, and weekly events, memes, etc. are a great way to do that.  I’m just crossing my fingers that I can keep up! 🙂

The rules are quite simple (from TT page):

Welcome to Teaser Tuesday, the weekly Meme that wants you to add books to your TBR! You can also just share what you are currently reading. We make it very easy to play along, it is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

1: Grab your current read
2: Open to a random page
3: Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers! Everyone loves Teaser Tuesday.

So, for my Tuesday Teaser just click that “Read More” button – but just a hint… expect something romantic! 🙂

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #1

I’ve been on a bit of a book binge this past week and of course, since ’tis the season — all have been Christmas romances.

I’ve loved each story for different reasons, and that will be reflected in the reviews I get up this week for all of these wonderful Christmas romances by authors that I enjoy year-round.  If you haven’t tried any of these authors yet, well, Christmas-time would be a great time to see if they might become favorites of yours as well. 🙂

Stacking the Shelves #1 (HEARomance)

Posted September 26, 2020 by Marsha in Stacking the Shelves, Weekly Events / 6 Comments

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  If you’d like to take part simply click on those links above to discover what this fun event is all about.

This is my first time joining the Stacking the Shelves weekly wrapup of added books with a new blog Happily Ever After Romance.  (which is a sister site to Keeper Bookshelf) and I’m just a bit excited to join in (keep up-to-date *fingers crossed*) and discover even more new books that I really can’t afford to buy (but I know I will).  🙂

I buy, borrow, or receive ARCs all the time – so these books are the ones I’ve chosen for this particular book/book review blog.  They may show up next week, or next month.  Like most readers that I know, I’m a mood reader – I pick up a book based on what I need for an escape at that moment.

These titles are linked to their Goodreads page if you’d like to learn more.  Two Christmas Romances (which I read all year long) and two anytime Romances.  Not bad. 🙂

Okay, thanks for letting me show off a bit – now I’m off to visit your blogs… and find more books I’m sure.
