CEO’s Pregnant Lover begins the Denver Men series (previously published in 2014) with an opposites-attract romance that steadily increases the tensions and suspense until we hit what would be a cliffhanger except for the epilogue that definitely sets up Trent’s and Brianna’s romance as the series introduction book.  I’m frankly not a fan of cliffhangers, but sometimes they work quite well in a situation like this one where we aren’t left hanging forever but gain just enough information from the epilogue to be able to easily move into the next book without the annoyance factor that often accompanies a cliffhanger ending for me.  At least, in my opinion.

Trent is as arrogant, impatient, and successful as you could imagine.  He’s got the talent for his chosen career and doesn’t suffer fools easily.  But his world is about to tilt when Brianna steps in as his assistant when his usual assistant must be away from work for a while.  He’s not quite sure what to do with this apparently shy woman who obviously hides her good looks behind baggy, ill-fitting clothes and packs lunches every single day.  There’s an attraction he’s fighting because no matter how Brianna appears she is certainly a talent in what she does in the workplace.  Now, if only he could stop wondering what takes her away after work.

Brianna is, unfortunately, coping in the workplace as so many women do by dressing down, by not putting on makeup or a stylish haircut due to harassment from co-workers.  She needs every penny for her mother’s health care expenses so thrift store shopping and peanut butter sandwiches in a brown bag are her reality for the moment.  Being temporarily moved up to Trent’s assistant position will be such a financial help, but her attraction to this complex, demanding man cannot go further than her imagination.  Until the night that everything changed for them… including being put in Trent’s enemy’s sights.

I enjoyed Brianna’s and Trent’s romance.  It’s a fun, steamy romance right up to the moment it becomes so much more.  And that you should discover on your own.  If you love a well-written romance with unseen twists and a couple to have empathy with, then you’ll feel right at home with this one.  The cliffhanger portion packs a very powerful punch, but it will entice you to continue to discover what happens next.
