Christmas Miracle in Jamaica begins the multi-author quartet (series) The Christmas Project with an emotionally delightful clash between two people with sultry chemistry… and a lot of unspoken history.  It’s a relatively quick read, yet one with some emotional punch to it (and some of that comes from me wanting to scream into my e-reader, “Please, please really talk to each other!”).

Chloe is recently divorced from a power-hungry jerk who while never physically abusing her certainly did a good job of undermining everything she touches, how her family uses her, and how Chloe sees herself through the constant need to keep the peace.  At a medical conference in California, she does something completely out of character for her… she allows herself to follow an instant attraction leading to a sensuous one-night stand believing she’d never see Sam again.  And while she might regret that never seeing him again part, she certainly took away memories to last a lifetime.  But… be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

Sam and Chloe will meet again, much to each other’s stunning surprise, when she travels to Jamaica for a few months as a neurology consultant for her hospital.  Then the sparks are reignited… with much more on the line than they had expected!

As far as memory serves me, this is the first story by Ann McIntosh that I’ve read – and now I’ll be going in search of her backlist.  Christmas Miracle in Jamaica was a smooth, well-developed story with characters that leaped off the page for me.  There were a few times when some parts of conversations between Chloe and Sam got a bit repetitive, yet, I understood the underlying reason for that as they each struggled with the emotions that were coming to the surface – to deny or accept those feelings became a major third main character of this story.  I liked them both, they certainly sizzled, and although the misunderstandings between them held emotions at bay for a long time, when they finally took the risk of bringing love into the picture everything fell into place.  I love and appreciate when a story has an epilogue, and this one was precious beyond words.

If you love a strong, at times, stubborn couple fighting falling in love… in a beautiful setting, then this one would be perfect for you.  Now on to the next story in this quartet, December Reunion in Central Park by Deanne Anders.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.
