Colton Nursery Hideout, the third title in the Coltons of Grave Gulch multi-author mini-series, was quick to grab my attention and held me captive to a story that is emotionally charged on so many levels.  The action begins in the first chapter as the tensions, danger, and sizzling romantic sparks fly around Tatiana and Travis as they begin to co-CEO Colton Plastics amidst an unexpected pregnancy, information about Tatiana’s family coming to light, a deadly serial killer on the loose, and a stalker who will stop at nothing until he has Tatiana as his own… or her death for not wanting him.  Talk about a roller-coaster ride of a romance!

I loved Tatiana from the start.  She’s smart, stubborn, and is facing challenges on so many fronts.  Her impulsive attraction to the man who is now her co-CEO after their interview for the job has stunned her in its intensity and her choice to do something about that fiery passion.  Never would she have thought that she’d end up pregnant, but here they are trying to figure out how to face co-parenting in the middle of the other things happening to her.  She’s being hounded by the police and the media because she is an accused serial killer’s daughter.  By their logic she has to know where her father is… but she doesn’t, well, not for certain.  Add into the mix a stalker who intends to make Tatiana his own and will stop at nothing to make that happen only adds additional tension to the strong, sizzling romantic feelings she’s having for a man who never, ever intended to be a husband or father.

It took me a bit longer to fall for Travis though.  He’s a stubborn man, so deeply convinced that because he didn’t follow the rest of his siblings into law enforcement in some manner that he’s not only an outcast in his family but that his father doesn’t approve of his chosen path in life that this opinion colors just about everything in his life.  He’s wrong on all counts, but that doesn’t really matter in the long run for it’s what Travis believes and until he can be convinced otherwise he will continue to deny himself all that he truly wants in life beyond his company.  Until Tatiana comes along and rocks his world in so many different ways.  I enjoyed watching a strong, stubborn man see the error of his beliefs over the course of this story.  And that push away then pulled back he felt toward Tatiana is so obvious to anyone in sight.

We get a very real sense of what it’s like to be hounded by the police and the never-ending glare of the news media in Colton Nursery Hideout.  Tatiana kept vital information to herself when she shouldn’t have.  Oh, I completely understand her reasons, but still that added complications to all of her relationships.  I had a general idea about the stalker but was still surprised by how that was resolved.  We get another look at the widespread Colton connections in Grave Gulch, a hint of the next story to come – and a really good, intense, satisfying romance for this couple.  If you love your romances with a touch of danger then this series would be perfect for you.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.
