I fell completely in love with sweet little Maeve and then tipped head over heels for her father, Tyler in For His Daughter’s Sake, the second title in the Montana Mavericks: The Real Cowboys of Bronco Heights. If you’re looking for a romance that will capture all the emotions then this one is for you!
Tyler is a devoted dad and a dedicated rancher who is on his own, for the most part, in trying to do everything for his daughter and his ranch… and the strain is beginning to show. Oh, it’s not that there aren’t lots of people willing and wanting to help – it’s more like Tyler is a stubborn man who wrongly believes he has to atone for his dead wife’s actions. I loathed his wife, and the more I learned about her the deeper that loathing became. This is a good man who made choices and is standing behind those choices… right or wrong.
Callie doesn’t know the first thing about babies, and she’s feeling a bit envious and feels like she’s on the outside looking in seeing all the new happy couples in town. She gets a quick introduction to a hot cowboy at an event, Callie blows off the immediate attraction, or she tries to but Tyler is a man any woman would look at twice not only for his looks but he comes off as a gentleman and a good man even on first impressions. What Callie isn’t aware of is that Tyler is fighting his own attraction to her… and believing himself unworthy of any woman’s love after his disastrous marriage. Some good “matchmakers” and a chain of events will prove them wrong in thinking they’d never work… they simply have to be willing to take a few risks outside their comfort zones and leave the past where it belongs far distant in the rearview mirror.
For His Daughter’s Sake is an emotional, involved romance, and I expect that type of connection from Stella Bagwell (there’s a good reason she’s one of my “go-to” authors). I will always love a single dad, especially that unique bond between dads and daughters. Watching Tyler naturally, lovingly caring for Maeve was a joy – and watching Callie get comfortable with Maeve (considering the first time Maeve saw her she burst into tears) and begin to love this little one for her own sweet self was something that made me smile wider the deeper in love Callie got with both father and daughter. Yes, they have some issues to face, especially the damage a dead woman has done to a good man. But going along for their journey into a lifetime love was emotional and so worth every moment spent in this world.
If this is the kind of connection you look for in a good romance, then this story and this series would be perfect for you.
