“For sale: Beachcomber Inn. This charming B&B on Cape Cod has seen better days, but a little TLC will bring it back to life. Price: $1 to the right owner…”

Evie Baxter-Jones has never been impulsive… Until the night she goes online to buy a new bathrobe and winds up the proud owner of a bed and breakfast on Cape Cod. She’s hoping life in Sweetbriar Cove will be a fresh start away from the sympathetic smiles she’s been getting, ever since she was widowed before her thirtieth birthday. She’s not expecting to find a town full of quirky locals, the Inn in desperate need of repairs — or for her handsome new neighbor to make her heart beat faster in her chest. When he’s not driving her crazy with his playboy ways, that is…

Local firefighter, Noah Montgomery, isn’t looking to put his heart on the line. He’s sworn to keep his life simple and drama-free, until the new owner of the Beachcomber Inn arrives in town, and makes him think twice about his solo plans. Evie is beautiful, captivating – and stubborn as hell. She’s determined to get the Beachcomber Inn up and running again, and Noah is just being a good neighbor by lending a hand…

At least, that’s his story, but as the pair grow closer, the sparks between them are impossible to ignore. Soon, the summer is heating up with a passion Evie never saw coming. She knows heartbreak all too well, but can Noah convince her to take a chance on love again? Or will the tragedies of the past keep them from their new forever?

I’ve read the original series books 1-9, they were reviewed on a blog that was hacked so badly that I couldn’t recover or continue it so that blog no longer exists.  I need to catch up with the Kinsella Family books, but for now, I’m focusing on the most recent direction of this series with the Beachcomber Inn stories.

Title:  Forever Summer
Series:  Beachcomber Inn #1 (Sweetbriar Cove #15)
Author:  Melody Grace
Genre:  Contemporary Romance
Publication Date:  March 16, 2021
Rating:  4.5 stars

It’s always a special treat to return to Sweetbriar Cove to catch up with old friends and meet some newcomers as well.  Forever Summer begins the Beachcomber Inn series of stories set within one of my favorite fictional towns of Sweetbriar Cove.  Noah and Evie weren’t looking for anything romantic, they’d both experienced loss and aloneness, each guarding their emotions in their own way.  Yet Evie’s new life began with a spur-of-the-moment purchase of an older B & B for only one dollar.  Certainly, there had to be a huge catch but it felt right to be taking the risk.  And there was a catch, bringing the Beachcomber Inn back to its former glory wasn’t going to be an easy or inexpensive task but all it took was one night spent in that house, one sorta drunk dance in her undies, and one completely unexpected visitor to have Evie thinking of possibilities.

Evie had been widowed young.  Noah has recently been dumped by his not quite bride.  Neither was actively looking, yet neither could deny the obvious attraction between them.  Oh, they tried but eventually, with the help of one pretend boyfriend/girlfriend moment neither could deny the chemistry behind that kiss.  It was a fun, at times sexy, always enjoyable journey as we watch two stubborn and hurt people work their way toward each other.  Unfortunately, Evie’s past will make a surprise appearance leading her to make an emotional decision that she will soon regret but won’t back down from.

Forever Summer is emotional, funny, and just the type of story that draws the reader into this world.  We’ll meet up again with some of the Sweetbriar Cove residents, meet new secondary characters, and watch as two people almost lose each other over a fear of the future.  I’ll admit that although I understood Evie’s reaction at one point, at the same time I wanted to sit her down for a serious conversation.  I liked Noah and Evie individually, but especially as a couple.  Now it’s time to wait for the release of Simply Irresistible, which is Evie’s best friend, Jules’ story.

I had a blast back in this world, and if you love a feel-good, small-town (gossips and all) romance with likable, believable characters… then you need to pick up Forever Summer, right now.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.
