He will risk his life…

The oh-so-proper school teacher, Lily Donovan, has learned the hard way that men are not to be trusted. Period. Until Levi Roberts, the new cowboy working at her cousin’s ranch, tempts her carefully-built resolve and awakens an all-consuming passion she thought lay dormant. But when she discovers his deadly secret and her own secrets come to light, Lily unwittingly joins the lethal cat-and-mouse race between Levi and the man he’s been hunting for weeks.

To save her heart…

Former Ranger Levi Roberts has seen his fair share of deadly trouble during his years as a tough-as-nails operative. The ultimate expert in undercover investigations, he’s been tasked to find a man with a dangerous agenda in town. Routine work has been boring…until he runs into Lily, the prickly school teacher who tempts him like no other. Getting under her skin has been deliciously satisfying for his red-hot desire, but when Lily lands in the hands of the very man he’s been investigating, Levi will have to fight with every ounce of his heart and soul to save her—and to heal the heart he broke.

Title:  Her Renegade Cowboy
Series:  Moving Violations #3
Author:  Lora Leigh
Genre:  Romantic Suspense
Published:  September 28, 2021
Publisher:  St. Martin’s Press
My Rating:  3 stars

Her Renegade Cowboy is the concluding story in the Moving Violations series.  And while I’ve read the earlier stories and was looking forward to the finale… I read Levi and Lily’s story, set it aside, and came back to it for a re-read before finally doing this review.  I wish I could have loved it.  I know with this author, I’m going to get a hyper-sexy read, and that’s fine and enjoyable.  Yet, I also expect and want some suspense within a Romantic Suspense story (even with all the sexiness) and that I did not find here.  I don’t even mind a clueless heroine, but the moves she made and the important things that Lily never mentioned took her to a whole other level for me in the clueless department… and as a school teacher, I didn’t expect her to not act with some snippet of common sense.

I wanted to like this book.  But I simply didn’t.  That is a personal opinion; it doesn’t mean that there isn’t an audience for Her Renegade Cowboy that would love every moment.  Unfortunately, that didn’t include me.  This is why I’ll always say make up your own mind about any book because a reviewer’s opinion is just that… my opinion.
