to be a father to this little girl?

He’s floored by the responsibility, so when child life specialist Mariah Anderson agrees to pitch in at home, Michael thinks she’s heaven-sent.

His Lost and Found Family begins the Sierra’s Web series with three lives that are about to be bound together, forever, by tragic circumstances. It will take a bit of time, some adjustments in self-awareness before that forever part can take place, but it’s there hovering in the background as Michael, Mariah, and little Harper travel uncharted roads when Harper’s parents (and Michael’s estranged sister) die in a fierce storm leaving this “never ever going to get married or have kids” man with custody of a niece he never knew existed until the notification arrived. Lives are about to change, emotions running high, and one couple holds a child’s future (and their own) in their hands based on decisions made in this emotional time.
Michael and Mariah are both wounded souls, each in their own ways, and with their own ways of dealing with the past. It was a little bit difficult for me to connect to Michael at first, I’ll be frank about that. Yet, as the story continues and details his past, his reasons for the choices he’s made, and the effect those choices had on his life – well, it’s then that I met a different Michael, one who deserved happiness even though he fought against it every step of the way.
Mariah is also dealing with her own loss, and that broke my heart for her when it was revealed. But she’s dealing with that pain in a far different way than Michael is. We all deal with grief and life differently, don’t we? She was supposed to be in Harper’s life for a brief amount of time, yet the emotional pull of this four-year-old, the upheaval in that sweet child’s life, and the attraction to a man she shouldn’t be acknowledging will draw Mariah deeper into this case until it becomes personal.
I found His Lost and Found Family to be well-written, emotionally engaging, with a couple I could root for and a little one I adored, especially as she was so realistically described. The Sierra’s Web family fascinates me and I’m looking forward to learning more about them all. I enjoyed myself, will be following the series – and if you enjoy a romance that will capture your emotions then this one would be perfect for you as well.
