Britta Bolton has known and loved Mav her whole life – as friends. She’s willing to be the friend he needs even if her own happiness is sacrificed.
She’s interested in dating someone else, but she promptly puts that plan on hold to come to the rescue of her best friend. She loves his company and they know each other inside and out. While a marriage of convenience isn’t what she really sees for herself, she’s more than willing to make this plan work for the guy who’s always been there for her.
Maverick Tucker is in a bit of a pickle. He’s ready for the promotion he’s worked so hard for at Bolton Farms but his father thinks he needs a wife before that promotion becomes a reality.
When Britta agrees to marry him and promises that their marriage will be permanent, he’s reluctant for only a moment. He’s actually relieved that his problem is solved. And marrying his best friend doesn’t sound half bad.
As they go through the motions of being engaged and making it seem real, things start to change. Mav sees that Britta may make more of a sacrifice than he can ask of her. She’s still all in for their plan, but he knows he should put a stop to it.
When he thinks of breaking their engagement off, his heart is wounded. He’s shocked at his feelings. Now he doesn’t know if he should let her go or fight for her.
Was their friendship always destined to become a true-to-life love story?

I loved Britta and Maverick. They’d been friends since their childhood, had laughingly made a pact to one day marry if they were still single by a certain age (although they both knew they were teasing about that), and had both steadfastly ignored all the hints and whispers from their families about when these two perfect for each other people would ever actually marry. They cared nothing about any of that, they were best friends, knew each other as well as they knew themselves… and a real marriage wasn’t in the cards between them. Oh, they loved each other just not in “that way”. End of discussion.
Until Mav got his feet pulled out from under him at his father’s outrageous demand, and Britta did the only thing she could do for her friend, in spite of longing for that special spark she might have found with someone else… she agreed to marry her best friend. What could possibly go wrong? Well, just about everything.
Since everything you really need to know about Marrying Her Friend before picking it up is in the cover description let’s move on to the enjoyment factor. I had such a good time watching this couple slowly but surely begin to love each other “that way”. Sometimes the obvious is right in front of us and we still cannot see it. There were some hard emotional moments here, especially with family (well intended or not) sticking their nose in where it shouldn’t be. Yet the fun part was in the discovery for Britta of everything she thought she’d missed out on feeling was right there with Mav, she just took a bit of time to really believe in those feelings. Love isn’t easy, anyone who tries to sell that idea is a good salesperson, but it is worth the time to know you’re with the right person for you, and this couple did that, hurt feelings, forgiveness, and all. I enjoyed myself back in this world and look forward to Shane and Cat finding their way to happiness.
