They’ve been forced to work together, but they can’t agree on anything. When attraction takes over, though, it becomes tougher to ignore how much they have in common.

Lucky Howard has a job to do, and nothing’s going to stop him. As one of Misty Mountain’s top developers, he’s overseeing a complete overhaul of the only dinner theater in town. But doing so means working with the manager of that theater, who happens to be the daughter of one of the town gossips.

Jordan Strongblossom takes her work at Misty Mountain Music seriously. But the owner thinks the place needs an overhaul, and he’s put her in charge of helping Lucky and his crew. The problem is the town is suddenly protesting the changes, and those protests could interrupt their progress.

The more they work together to battle the town, though, the more they realize they have in common. And neither can forget the kiss they shared years ago, especially as the attraction between them grows.

Matched with the Boss is the third story in the Misty Mountain Matchmakers series, and although I had not read the two previous titles in this series, I wasn’t the least bit lost in following the basics of this series.  I will go back and read the earlier books, for I enjoyed the dynamics of this small town and would like to know more.

Jordan and Lucky had one amazing kiss – in a closet as teens – and that moment set a pattern for how they’ve dealt with each other since that moment.  Unfortunately, each had a different – and very wrong – memory of the whys and the feelings brought about by that kiss.  So, they’ve avoided each other as much as one can in a small town.  Yet, that connection from the past certainly gave the town’s matchmakers some fuel to add to their shenanigans to bring this couple together.

The owner of the dinner theater that Jordan had managed for years suddenly decides to change everything about the place, shutting it down while under a completely different renovation project putting her staff out of work for the duration, and giving Jordan nightmares about her own future.  To make matters even worse, they’ve hired Lucky to oversee that new construction.  Lucky.  The man she’d shared one memorable kiss with years ago and has been avoiding ever since.  She’s angry, hurt, and confused but also a bit confounded when it turns out that working alongside Lucky isn’t as horrible as she’d thought it would be.  Just when the shaky ground under her feet begins to settle… out come the matchmakers and the protestors of not only the work on the dinner theater but other places in town that this landowner has turned upside down.  Jordan and Lucky have to find some way to settle the upheaval the protestors are causing… while discovering that they just might be right for each other after all.  Talk about complicated!

I had fun with Matched with the Boss.  It’s a delightful romance full of laughter and tension while bringing two people together who really do love each other and fit just perfectly together as a forever couple.  I adored the matchmakers and their antics.  And those reasons that Lucky and Jordan used to avoid each other for years melted away once they got to know who they are today, not as teens.  It’s a well-written, emotional, funny, small-town romance that grabbed my curiosity and delivered a wonderful love story.  I’m definitely going to go back to the beginning for more romance… and more matchmaking shenanigans.
