He ticks every one of her “never again” boxes…

Jo Weaver loves her job as a boat mechanic for her family’s marina in River’s Edge, Indiana. But when she’s pulled away from her high school reunion with her sisters to fix a stranded yacht, she can’t restrain her irritation. Jo doesn’t like wealthy men who think they can have whatever they want, and she has no intention of falling for rich and charming again.

Born into the international Briggs Hotels empire, Alex Briggs has never felt comfortable with his life of privilege. Abandoning his family’s business to pursue medical research, he’s far more at home in his lab. When the yacht he restored himself breaks down on the way to an important conference, Alex begrudgingly goes in search of a boat mechanic and falls, literally, into Jo Weaver’s arms. The fireworks he feels are impossible to ignore.

Jo does her best to keep Alex in the business zone, but he keeps slipping into something more. Can she trust her fragile heart, especially when Alex and his life-altering research are so far from River’s Edge?

Titles in The Weaver Sisters series include — Home to River’s Edge —♥— Meet Me in River’s Edge —♥— Christmas in River’s Edge —♥—

River’s Edge, Indiana world now includes three series (so far):

Four Irish Brothers Winery started us off with — The Baby Contract —♥— Christmas with You —♥— Meant to Be —♥— A Small Town Christmas —♥—

Then we moved on to The Lange Brothers with — The Valentine Wager —♥— Falling for the Doctor —♥— The Fireman’s Christmas Wish —♥—

Of course, you don’t have to read the earlier series to enjoy the current one – but if you enjoy falling into an entire community where you’ll often see familiar faces from across all the somewhat connecting series, then this is the world you may want to visit. I’ve enjoyed this world from the very beginning, so I highly recommend all of these stories.

This is an adult 18+ story that may contain language, possible violence, and/or sexual situations geared to an adult audience.

Title:  Meet Me in River’s Edge
Series:  The Weaver Sisters #2
Author:  Nan Reinhardt
Genre:  Contemporary Romance
Published:  August 17, 2023
Publisher:  Tule Publishing
My Rating:  4.5

I’ve loved all the stories within the slightly connecting River’s Edge, Indiana world, and Meet Me in River’s Edge, the second title in The Weaver Sisters series, is certainly right up there among my favorites.  This time around, we’re going to get to know Jo a little bit better.  While she is one of the Weaver triplets, Jo certainly stands out on her own for several reasons: she’s stubborn, she’s been burned badly by a wealthy man before and has no patience for “rich” men, she’s good at what she’s chosen as a career even if it’s not seen by many as a woman’s job (sigh), and her loyalty is as solid as a rock.  She won’t deal with nonsense and has absolutely no problem standing up for herself and staring down anyone who disagrees with her.  She is a whirlwind, and I adored her from the very beginning.

Alex is an enigma.  He comes from a wealthy family but has stepped out on his own to carve his own future in an area he is not only fascinated with but very good at – medical research.  His yacht developed mechanical troubles as he and his friends were traveling to a medical conference that he needed to be at.  Unfortunately, unlike other times when he could handle the repairs by himself, this time, he needed an expert.  And makes a rather spectacular introduction to Jo, the boat mechanic, at her reunion celebration (he’s impatient and went looking for her instead of waiting). He would have never run into a very stubborn, opinionated boat mechanic if his ship hadn’t developed mechanical problems he couldn’t handle himself.  Now two equally stubborn, strong, determined people are about to clash… it will either be a disaster or the beginning of a love to last all time.

I enjoyed Jo and Alex’s romance so much.  The touches of reality that are brought into this story make it all the more enjoyable, gut-wrenching, and believable.  I don’t do spoilers, so I’ll leave that part up to you to discover for yourself.  I can say that they’ve both been touched with heartache in ways that I could identify myself, which probably made this a more powerful story for me.  Meet Me in River’s Edge is a well-written, engaging, emotional, at times whirlwind of a romance that kept me flipping pages and loving every moment spent back in this world. We’ll run into some familiar faces (if you’ve read the earlier connecting series), and for me, it’s always a bonus when I get a kind of “catch-up” moment with old book friends.  In all, I had a blast and would not hesitate one second to recommend this story as well as the earlier ones.  It’s a special world that I’ll be visiting again soon for the next Weaver sister’s adventure in love.
