More Than Rivals… begins the duet of Heirs of Lochlainn with a fairytale touch before diving back into the reality of rival amusement parks playing right into the start of a romance for Anna and Ian.

Although they first met at the holiday party, Anna didn’t have the advantage of knowing beforehand who the handsome man was as he flirted, carrying on a conversation that might have given her a clue if she had grown up in this environment.  But Anna has recently discovered that she is …perhaps… an heiress to an empire that includes this very amusement park; it’s complicated, to say the least.  They’d meet officially tomorrow in the meeting with the party that wanted to buy this property, but for tonight they were two strangers letting their mutual attraction carry them along.  And Ian’s self-confidence flies out the window when he discovers a much sterner, more business-minded, and yes, even stubborn Anna after it is revealed who he is and his family’s plan for this amusement park that has far outlived its profitability.

I had fun with this story and two people who have a lot in common yet are worlds apart in the plans for this property.  Anna may be finding her way in this world, but she knows right from wrong – and Ian’s intense need for this property feels all wrong.  So, she’s stalling and also falling for a man who clearly doesn’t see the world as she does.  Ian isn’t the greedy, company man that first impressions might give.  There are layers to his personality, and it was enjoyable watching Anna peel those layers back to show the heart of a man who needed to learn to trust his instincts and not simply follow orders.  Watching them fall in love was emotional and so much fun.

If you can make a trip to an amusement park any time of the year, by plan or by whim… or if you just love watching a fairytale romance unfolding, then you’re going to love this one.  I know I did.
