Title:  Targeting the Deputy

Targeting the Deputy is the third title in the Mercy Ridge Lawmen series, and it packs quite the emotional punch as Leo’s estranged wife seems to be set up to appear to want her husband dead, and while they might be fighting for custody of their son, dead is the last thing Olivia wants to happen to the man she still loves but cannot be with.

Leo’s and Olivia’s story is full of suspects galore and an intense search for the person who actually wants to do harm to this family in any way possible.  I was easily swept up in Targeting the Deputy from the opening scene, and the action never seemed to let up throughout this one.  It’s obvious that there are still feelings between this couple, and equally obvious that Olivia is separating from her husband for reasons that have nothing to do with incompatibility but more with her need to protect not only her husband but their son as well.  Watching this story play out definitely kept me on the edge of my “reading seat.”  There are so many good, logical suspects that could be behind these attacks that just when I thought I had it figured out, something else would change my mind.

I don’t mind being kept in the dark and guessing my way through any romantic suspense because that means that I’m engaged with the story and need to know how it all ends.  Through twists and turns and some unusual suspects, Leo and Olivia’s story kept me guessing, and enjoying trying to put the puzzle pieces together.  And I’ll admit that there were things that I didn’t see coming, and that’s why I’ll always pick up this author’s books.

If you love a well-written, fast-paced Romantic Suspense novel full of suspects and danger… and an eventual happy ending for the couple, then you’ll want to pick up Targeting the Deputy (or this entire series) soon.  Oh, and it doesn’t matter one little bit if a book was published yesterday or months or even years ago – a good story is ageless.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.
