She’s done with cowboys for good…

Cowboy Levi Harrington oversees the innovative breeding program at the Endeavour Ranch. He knows how to read aggression, personality, and mood in bulls and horses better than anyone in Grand, Montana. When he sees the fiancée of his best friend, who died during a rodeo several years ago, struggling to control her horse, he wants to help. He’s loved Dana from afar for years, but she’s always been off-limits—even now.

Barrel racer Dana Barrett’s relationship with a popular bull rider killed in the arena was complicated, messy, and not at all the fairy tale love story rodeo fans chose to see. She’s ready to step out of the tragedy’s limelight and move on, starting with taking her career to the next level. That’s hard to do when everyone still sees her as a tragic heroine and when her beloved champion horse is at the end of her career.

Dana needs a fresh start, starting with a new horse. When a twist of fate throws Levi and Dana together again, can they move beyond the past and forge a future together?

The Cowboy’s Redemption continues The Endeavor Ranch of Grand, Montana series with a story of acceptance, letting go of the past (in all forms), and finding the future that is deserved and full of possibilities.

While Dana certainly wasn’t my favorite heroine of all time, I did understand her and why she often acted as she did.  She’s dealing with guilt, with basically living a lie (or allowing an assumption to continue), and she’s facing the loss of a beloved horse, one she’s had a long, successful career with and will always be loved… even though this horse is coming to the end of the professional career they’ve shared for years.  Dana is setting out on a new course for herself, and she needs a new horse to reach that goal.  What she didn’t expect to find was a chance at lasting love with Levi if she was willing to take that risk.

Levi is one of the best at what he does.  As head of the breeding operations at the Endeavor Ranch, he has the skill, the talent, and that unexplainable sense of what his animals are capable of doing.  He was also the best friend of the man Dana was in a relationship with until his untimely death.  Add in the fact that Levi has quietly loved Dana for years, and kept silent about it since she was his best friend’s girl… well, you have all the elements for a romance that will allow, not a second chance, but a new beginning for them both.  But they have to get through some rough roads before that possibility can become a reality.

One of the reasons I’m drawn to connecting series is the chance to once again run into “familiar faces”, and maybe get caught up a little bit.  In all, I enjoyed returning to this world.  The story is well-written, the pace is steady, the characters engaging, and what an ending that one was.  It felt like coming home, and that is always a good feeling for me.
