When a fake marriage fails, what comes next?

Following a disastrous relationship, successful divorce attorney Wynne Olsen is ready to put her past firmly behind her and start fresh in sunny California. But first, she’ll need to help plan her sister’s wedding and quit her new position as Angel Point’s city attorney. A local hero’s Nordic good looks are a distraction she doesn’t need at any time, much less when she’s tying up loose ends on her way to a better future.

Former marine and single dad Brett Macauley is focused on raising his daughter and opening a veterans village. There’s no time left for courting love, but when his daughter proposes a fake marriage between him and Wynne in order to adopt her best friend out of the foster system, Brett thinks that’s a worthy reason to pop the question. Especially since he’s realizing Wynne is quickly winning over his heart.

Another failed fake marriage isn’t what Wynne wants, but she does believe in Brett. Can Wynne finally say “I do” to a happy future…one with Brett in it?

The Fake Marriage Proposal is the fifth title in the An Angel Point Romance series – it also ties in closely with The Valentine Project where Wynne’s sister, Gwen is the heroine.  Wynne is returning to Angel Point, reluctantly, where she’s promised to help her sister get ready for her wedding and take on the city attorney position in Angel Point.  Her sister isn’t going to be thrilled with her when Wynne steps away from that commitment of becoming the city attorney to take a job with a large law firm in California.  But, oh, sisters know how to get back at sisters, don’t they?

I fell in love with two little girls, Gillian and her best friend ever, Harrie.  These two are sisters of the heart about to be ripped apart when Harrie’s foster family must move away from Angel Point.  The girls come up with the most ingenious plot… divorce Harrie from the foster system, and who better to do that than a divorce lawyer, Wynne.  Frankly, I’m not sure who I was rooting for to get a happy ending most in this story – Gillian and Harrie, or Wynne and Brett.  All four together would be perfect if that can happen with Wynne’s determination to never marry for reasons that make sense to only her.

Add in some meddling in the best interest of her sister’s future causing trouble in Gwen’s paradise, some interesting romantic adventures for some older residents, and a bit of a mystery for another and you have a story that will have you laughing out loud, holding back tears, and fully engaged with these characters who feel as real as your next-door neighbors.  Wynne and Brett fit so well together, yet Wynne has to let go of the past and trust in someone else when that’s not the easiest thing for her to do.  Watching her let go of the past and reach for her future was perhaps the most satisfying part of their story.

I loved being back in this world, and would not hesitate to recommend it (and the earlier stories) to any reader who simply loves a well-written, realistic romance.
