Can these two lonely souls catch a lucky break in love?

Harley Von’s never been lucky in life, let alone in love. And her streak of ill fortune continues when her long-lost brother passes away just as they were on the verge of reconnecting. On the run from a bad relationship, she’s less than delighted to find herself sharing Sebastian’s fixer-upper with his gruff but gorgeous friend, Garrett. With her ex breathing down her neck and a baby on the way, Harley’s got plenty to deal with. Falling for a sexy SEAL isn’t part of her plan.

Navy SEAL Garrett Moore isn’t looking for romance. His life is the SEALs, end of discussion. Still grieving and guilt-ridden over his teammate’s death, he’s determined to do what he can to help Sebastian’s sister. And Harley’s combination of vulnerability and determination is captivating. She’s like a skittish fawn refusing to back down from a mountain lion.

He can’t help feeling protective of her, especially when the ex shows up and gets physical. But Garrett’s only in town for as long as it takes to repair the old house.

Love has a funny way of changing things, though.

My Rating:  4.5

The SEAL’s Pregnant Roommate continues the Hartsville’s SEAL Heroes series with an intense romance between two wounded souls who are connected through a brother and a friend’s death.  Both Garrett and Harley are reeling emotionally from Sebastian’s death, yet Harley has far more on her plate with an abusive soon-to-be ex-husband on her trail and a baby on the way.

While Garrett’s guilt is misplaced, that won’t stop him from doing everything in his power to help Harley feel safe again… even if that means stepping beyond lines in the sand at times.  Until that overprotective nature of his leads him to the wrong decision at the worst time.  Now, he’s not only fighting to keep her safe from the monster after her but desperately fighting to remain in her life after crossing those unspoken lines.

If you’ve read the earlier three stories, which came out a few years ago, then you’ll easily slip back into this world of tight friendships and get the chance to catch up with familiar couples — if The SEAL’s Pregnant Roommate is your first venture into this world, well, you won’t be the least bit lost as the earlier couple’s part in this story are quickly and easily described in either narrative or dialogue.

I enjoyed Harley’s and Garrett’s story.  It’s a quick read with believable characters who are slow to trust and to give their hearts, but they do balance each other perfectly.  I had fun and look forward to the next story in the series.
