She’s helping heal his body, but what about his heart?

Physical therapist Kinley James loves helping her clients—until she accidentally discovers one of them is a Mafia hitman. Now she’s seen too much, and that means her life is in danger. Good thing her sexy new client, Matthew Templeton, is a rugged Navy SEAL.

Matthew is struggling to recover from a serious injury and learn how to be a dad to his recently orphaned niece. He’s committed to powering through his rehab so he can return to the job he loves—and he’s less than delighted when Kinley warns that may not be realistic. Still, not only is she a warm and beautiful woman, she’s amazing with his niece.

And there’s not a chance in hell that he’ll let any harm come to her.

At first, Kinley dismisses the increasingly dangerous “accidents” happening around her, but Matthew is worried… and neither can dismiss their growing attraction to each other. Can Matthew protect Kinley and confess his feelings for her before it’s too late?

Title:  The SEAL’s Treatment
Series:  Hartsville’s SEAL Heroes #5
Author:  Leslie North
Genre:  Contemporary Romance
Published:  March 2, 2023
Publisher:
My Rating:  4.5

The SEAL’s Treatment continues the Hartsville’s SEAL Heroes series with a couple who are very regimented in their own ways when they met as Matthew begins treatment with Kinley as his physical therapist.  Rules are about to be broken, and hearts might as well when stubborn meets determined, and two people tumble into love… and danger.

I enjoyed Kinley and Matthew’s romance, rocky as it is at times, so much.  Add in an adorable little girl, and I’m hooked.  Matthew was injured on the mission that is loosely arched in this second trilogy of stories within this series.  Injured to the point that he might not realistically be able to return to his military career in the same capacity – it’s difficult to defuse an explosive when your hand will not function as it must for this type of delicate, dangerous work.  But he’s not seeing that as a possibility.  He will get back to his job, his life… it’s what saved him so many years ago, and he’s not about to give it up.  Yet so much has changed in his life, most importantly his guardianship of his little niece and one amazing woman with her own issues to be dealt with.

My heart broke for Kinley.  At the same time, she often frustrated me with her attitude toward herself and her supposed shortcomings that were more like simply being human.  She has a rough road to travel and certainly didn’t need the added danger that has been unwittingly added to her life.

But put them together, and these two very stubborn people fit, they work, and somehow they have to figure that out for themselves before they lose the best thing that has happened to either of them.

It’s been a few years since I read the first three (trilogy) titles in this series – I think it’s time for a re-read because I’m loving seeing those familiar faces pop up in these stories.  The SEAL’s Treatment is intense, sexy, funny, and realistic for the situation Matthew and Kinley are facing.  I had such a good time with their story, so if you love a Romantic Suspense full of danger, smoldering embraces, an adorable little princess, and a ready-made family in so many ways, then you’ll find your own perfect fit with the Hartsville’s SEAL Heroes series.
