The Witness continues the Marshal Law series with this intense romantic suspense full of twists and turns certain to captivate any reader who loves putting puzzles together.  And are there ever puzzles to be figured out for Finn and Camille.

Camille has been in the witness protection program for about a year now.  She’s the only survivor of a serial killer known as the Carver who is currently in prison… or is he?  Camille’s been feeling like something is off but she never expected to be attacked in her own home by the man who should be in prison.  Fortunately, the US Marshal, Finn, assigned to her checked up on her at just the right moment and scared off her attacker but not before some damage was done both physically and mentally.  Now the battle to find Camille’s newest attacker begins and the race to keep her alive while she and a very stubborn Finn begin their own journey of falling in love in the midst of an extremely dangerous situation.

We were introduced to Finn in The Fugitive, the first story of this series.  And it seems to be a pattern now of getting a bit more information about the hero of the upcoming story – even though all the men work for the same team of the US Marshal service.  For that reason alone, I’d say you could read the stories in this series as standalone, but I’d still strongly suggest reading in order if you can for having an idea of what these men faced previously gives the reader clues to how they’ll act now.  Plus, they are all good, intense, and enjoyable stories that you shouldn’t miss, in my opinion.

Finn is one of those characters who has a surface face and a different personality the deeper you dig.  While this superhero t-shirt wearer gives off one impression, down deep Finn is hurting and so stubborn about allowing himself to let down his guard about his feelings for Camille.  He, in himself, is an additional puzzle for the reader to figure out in The Witness.  I adored him, and this couple works so well together.  Their banter is believable, the anger is as well, and watching them fall in love, overcome their own doubts and issues was a major part of the enjoyment of this story for me.

The Witness has more twists and turns than a sidewinder snake in the desert.  Just when you think you’ve got a clue something comes along to have you doubting yourself… and I happen to love those types of romantic suspense stories.  I don’t want to give away spoilers for you should enjoy this one firsthand, but I was easily caught up in the story, questioned my thoughts and decisions about who the bad guy was, and enjoyed watching two stubborn people let someone else into their hearts and lives.  I had a blast, and that’s the entire point.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.

Available in paperback (Mass Market) or your favorite e-reader, mine is the Kindle.
