Coming home will always give you a second chance…

When Riley Leighton and Levi Duncan finally meet again, the chemistry between them is as hot as ever.

But as much as Levi has missed Riley all these years, he still remembers the heartbreak when she left him the first time…

Riley has spent a lifetime running from love. Now that she’s home again, starting her dream job at the local pet rescue, she also has another chance to get it right with Levi.

Everything Riley wanted but thought she couldn’t have is almost within reach.

Titles in the Rescue Me series include —  A New Leash on Love —♥— Sit, Stay, Love —♥— My Forever Home —♥— Love at First Bark —♥— Head Over Paws —♥— To Be Loved By You —♥— You’re My Home —♥—

This is an adult romance that does not contain graphic violence, there is very light swearing, and there are closed-door sexual situations.  This meets my definition of “sweet” — yours might be different.

(I have read the stories within this series and reviewed them on another blog of mine – but the Romances belong here, eventually, I’ll bring those other reviews over.)

Title:  You’re My Home
Series:  Rescue Me #7
Author:  Debbie Burns
Genre:  Contemporary Romance
Published:  May 9, 2023
Publisher:  Sourcebooks Casablanca
My Rating:  4.5

Each year, I look forward to returning to the Rescue Me series for another romance… and probably just as importantly, another couple to find their forever home of the human type.  You’re My Home is the seventh title in the series but since it’s a complete story within itself I don’t feel that you must have read the earlier stories to enjoy Levi and Riley’s story.  You’ll run into some couples from the previous stories, but I don’t believe you’d feel lost.  I’ll always gently suggest starting from the beginning of any series, but that’s not always possible… so I believe you’d enjoy this one just as it is – a cute, charming love story with one huge pup as important to the story as the couple is.

As always, let’s start off with the rescue pet in this one.  Arlo, you huge, goofy, loving Great Dane.  I adored this guy.  And the humans in this story aren’t bad either. *insert a smile right here*  My only annoyance with You’re My Home wasn’t about the story one little bit… I loved this romance.  But, come on guys, that is not a Great Dane on the cover.  And for as vital and important a role that Arlo plays in this romance  — the Great Dane deserved to be on the cover.

Levi and Riley were sort of an item in high school, but at their prom, something happened, something cringe-worthy that turned a wonderful, memorable night into something far different.  And Riley fled in humiliation and embarrassment.  She left town shortly afterward, without a look back, and in that moment broke Levi’s young heart.  Time has passed, and each has gone on to other things, and now as adults in their 30s, both Riley and Levi have come home.  The emotions between them are still there, just as strong as ever.  Now comes the choice to do something about what they are feeling for each other now… while dealing with the mistakes of the past.

I enjoyed Riley and Levi’s story.  It’s well-written, low angst (in spite of the teenage history), with a second chance to get their love right… and one adorable big goof of a dog that will help that second chance work for all of them, including Arlo.  I had such fun with this one, tears and laughter, second chances and healing.  Hard to ask for much more than that.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley, and I sincerely thank the author or publishing house for their trust.  It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
