Alaskan Blackout is the third story in The Kingsland Ranch series, and this time, it’s the old paradox of an immovable object meeting an irresistible force in two extremely stubborn people… both with good reasons, to them, at least.  Add in a remote Alaskan village, some extreme weather, and a sizzling attraction, and I was easily caught up in Quint and McKenna’s standoff romance.

Quint is searching for his half-brother Clayton, a man who is going to great lengths not to be found until he is ready.  Quint isn’t taking any chances on finding Clayton, no matter how well he hides, and since the private investigator the brothers have hired hasn’t had any luck, Quint is taking on the mission himself.  His search has led him to the remote area of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska… a more off-the-grid location would be hard to find, but it seems that Clayton has indeed found an even more remote area because only the bar he owns remains here… and the step-sister he entrusted not only his business but his location too.  And she’s not going to tell anyone, especially Clayton’s estranged half-brother, anything.  Period.  End of the story as far as McKenna is concerned.  Immovable object meet irresistible force.

I loved every aspect of McKenna’s and Quint’s romance.  From the bullheadedness of Quint to the determination and loyalty of McKenna, these two will not back down, and watching them fall for each other in spite of that was a fun experience.  Also, the reason that brought McKenna here in the first place is handled in a lightly detailed but explosively emotional way that gives us further insight into a very strong woman.  I enjoyed Alaskan Blackout very much, and it only intensified my need to hear Clayton’s story soon.  If you like your romances steamy, with stubborn characters, a remote location, a touch of mystery, and a well-written tale, then you’re going to love Quint and McKenna’s story.
